Safari 10 days / 9 nights : Nairobi, Kimana, Amboseli, Mara, Naivasha Oserien, Solio via Nanuki, Desert Rose, Nairobi

Day 1

Depending on your arrival time, you are collected from your international flight , and taken to Wilson airport. Take a cup of tea, and relax at the famous Aero Club of East Africa, whilst the plane is being loaded, and take off for Amboseli. A beautiful hour’s flight over the Athi Plains, the sandy Selengai river, arriving in Amboseli at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. We stop and install ourselves in a good lodge that has been entirely renovated. Take lunch, have a swim and about 15 h 30, go for a 4 wheel drive in the private reserve of Kimana. Sundowner in Kimana, return for dinner and night at the Lodge.

Day 2

Early morning wake up with a hot drink, and take off with the sunrise for the summit of Kilimanjaro , an hour’s flight full of surprises. Landing in the heart of the park, where a four wheel drive awaits, and we find ourselves parked on one of the elephant’s migration routes, as we take a memorable breakfast. After your personal game drive, return to the plane and fly over the park with a different perspective; lunch at the lodge, swim, rest by the pool during the heat of the day.

Amboseli is unique, the presence of the highest mountain in Africa offers the most sublime of backdrops, whilst the light seems to have its own quality. The large seasonal soda lake, which is often covered in a myriad of dust devils, whilst the mirages shimmer on the horizon as Elephant majestically transit through the surreal landscape.

Around 16h00, we leave on foot to meet our Masai friends, with whome we have implemented some environmental programmes, which try and address some of the problems of interaction between man and nature. Sundowner in a special spot in the bush, dinner and night a the Lodge.

Day 3

After breakfast , take off on the direction of the Mara for a 2H20 flight which will take your breath away, which must stay as a surprise, and will be one of the best souveniers of your trip.. A little after take off, we fly over the Amboseli swamps, impossible to see from the ground, with the elephants at the foot of Kilimanjaro. We pass over the plains and mountains of Namanga. Over the east part of the inaccessible

Great Rift Valley, the great cliffs, and an emotional visual spectacle. The discovery of Lake Natron, which will make your eyes pop out. ! The alkaline water with sumptuous colours, providing for an amazing variety of birdlife, Pelicans and flamingos. Images you will never forget, a palette of incredible tones. We will climb over the Nguruman escarpment to a height of 3200 meters, followed by the Loita Hills, arriving for an aeriel safari over the Mara plains. Install into a good tented lodge, take lunch, and in the afternoon we take our personalized 4x4 for a game drive in search of wildlife. Sundowner in the bush, returning to the lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 4

Today, we wake up early, take a hot drink, and leave for a Hot air balloon flight over the fantastic Mara plains. Breakfast upon landing in the middle of the bush, followed by a game drive. Depending on the time of year, we make the balloon flight either in the Mara or in the rift valley ; In this case we wake at 6 h00 take a hot drink, and leave by 6h30 for a game drive in your 4x4, looking for animals. Breakfast in the bush, return to the lodge for lunch.

The Mara is an extension of the Tanzanian Serengeti, open to the migration of all the animals which circulate according to the seasons, and thus available grazing. Zebra, gnu, elephant, Thompson and Grant gazelle , impala, dik dik, topi , buffalo, Giraffe, eland and wart hogs. Jackal Hyena and all the cats. The reserve covers 1530 km2, and is a world of itsown. Return to the camp, rest, lunch and around 16h00 leave for an other game drive looking for cats util dusk. Dinner, night at the Lodge.

Day 5

After breakfast, take off for a 1h00 flight to Naivasha, the scenery varies between the flat savanna and the high forest plateaus, finishing with a decent into the Great Rift Valley. You will see the geothermal action not far from the longonot volcano. And decent over lake Naivasha and olgodien well stocked with birdlife.

Arrive well refreshed, and install into and elegant, small Lodge in the middle of a private sanctuary. Relax, have lunch and leave for a small trip full of surprises. Finish the day with sundowners in the middle of the bush, as we watch the evening set in around a camp fire. On the way back to the lodge it is not uncommon to see leopard. Dinner by the fire , we are at 1800 mts, night at the lodge.

Day 6

Wake up with a hot drink and a small snack. Boat ride on Lake Naivasha, where you have the most variety of birds in one km2.. without forgetting the hippos. Return to shore for another surprise, a brunch awaits in the middle of nature on the shore of the Lake in a superb spot. A short walk along the shore, and return to the Lodge. Rest, swim and in the afternoon leave for another gamedrive until dark, where we sit by the fire at sunset and return to the lodge making a night game drive that you will never forget. Dinner by the fire. Night at Lodge.

Day 7

Wake up at your leisure in this little lodge which is so agreeable, you can swim in the heated pool surrounded by animals. If you prefer, to go out for another game drive, you have only to ask. Depending on the time of year, we will take the balloon flight either in the Mara or from Here. In this case ; early morning wake up with a snack in your room, transfer to the plane, and take off for a 15 minute flight to Lake Elemantaita, where the ballon is waiting. To do this flight in the middle of the Rift valley, is really spectacular. On landing we breakfast in style in the middle of the bush. The end of the morning we drive back to the plane for a 25 minute flight, over lake Naivasha, along the Mau escarpment. Before landing we might fly over the Longonot volcano.

Lunch at the Lodge, and in the afternoon, return to the plane for a 0h50 min flight to Sangare or Elkarama. If weather permits, we will fly over the Abadare mountains, through a valley well over 10000 feet high... where there are some amazing water falls, the highest in Kenya falling through indigenous forest, bamboo and moorland. We install ourselves into small cottages, where the ambiance is very friendly. Rest and leave for a personalized safari in the private Solio Reserve, which has a research programme for endangered species such as the Grevy Zebra. Solio is famous for its rhinoceros, its large area and variety of birds. The environmental programme for the preservation of rhinos, has been established now for over seventy years, and is supported from funds raised from visitors. Sundowner in the middle of the park, or a personalized safari in the private Elkarama ranch. Dinner, night at the lodge.

Day 8

Wake, breakfast, walks of your choice, on horseback or on foot. At the end of the morning, a twenty minute flight to Nanuki where we refuel, and have a surprise lunch, in an original restaurant, which is built around a large fig tree, and where the speciality is fresh trout. In the course of the afternoon, we depart for Desert Rose, a beautiful 1hr 30 min flight, passing the eastern edge of the Great Rift Valley. We land at the southern end of Mt Nyiru, on the northern edge of the deserted Elbarta plateau, in a place well far from anywhere.

Your first contact with the land of North Kenya is quite memorable...

A forty minute drive up a steep 4wd track, finds us in the heart of the sacred Mt Nyiru, mountain in a charmingly and unique small Lodge, Desert Rose..Settle into your room. If you wish you can finish the day with sundowners on a nearby rock. Return for dinner, and overnight in Lodge.

Day 9

Breakfast in the beautiful place, drive to the plane for a beautiful aerial flight. The big moment when we discover the Southern end of Lake Turkana and her volcanoes. Naboyatum, Telekis, where the Earth shows off her true beauty. Great emotion as we fly over Lake Logipi, her palette of colours and her flamingos. This is also the lowest and hottest point in the whole of the Rift Valley in Kenya.. If conditions permit, we will land on a beautiful island, in the middle of Lake Turkana. Return to Mt Nyiru. A forty minute drive up a steep 4wd track, finds us in the heart of the mountain in a small Lodge, Desert Rose. Here a small stream flows close to the lodge, an ideal spot to rock slide. Towards the end of the afternoon, if you wish there is a short walk to a great view point for sundowners. Dinner by candle light, night at the lodge.

Day 10

Wake up at your leisure with a hot drink of your choice. Breakfast and perhaps a short walk in the river, or a quiet morning meditating or resting by the pool. Depending on your departure time, return to the airstrip through the Ewaso Rongai valley, for a beautiful 2h00 flight to Nairobi, arriving via the Ngong Hills. This flight cannot fail to leave you unmoved. Arrival at Wilson airport, relax at the aero club of East Africa, transfer to the International airport for your flight home, taking with you some unforgettable memories.
